PETALING JAYA: An elderly man was shot dead in a residential area in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, at midnight.

According to police, the 63-year-old man had just finished playing mahjong at his friend’s house in Amarin Kiara and was walking towards his car when he was shot by an unknown person.

“A witness saw the victim crossing the road towards the car park. Shortly after that, the witness heard three gunshots from the car park and saw the victim on the ground near his car,” Brickfields police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor said in a statement.

He said the man had no criminal record.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
