An elderly man and his 2 grandchildren sustained injuries after the car they were in had crashed into the convenience store of a petrol station in Jalan Bukit Rambai, Melaka, last night (June 11).

The incident allegedly happened at around 7pm, where the 69-year-old victim and his 2 grandchildren, aged 12 and 13 respectively, suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for further treatment.

According to a report by Kosmo, the Melaka Tengah District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit shared that at the time of the incident, the elderly man had just finished refueling before getting into his car to continue their journey.

“However, he pressed the fuel pedal while entering gear D and crashed into the convenience store at the petrol station. As a result of the accident, the driver, who is a farmer, and his 2 grandchildren suffered minor injuries,” he said.

They were then taken to the hospital by family members who arrived at the scene.

Thankfully, no one else was hurt, as shared by the petrol station’s manager who reported the incident.

“Fortunately, there were no customers inside the convenience store at the time of the incident. This case will be investigated according to Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.

We genuinely hope that the elderly man and his grandchildren have a speedy recovery.
