Elderly Motorcyclist Stops to Take Shelter Under KL Flyover, Gets Hit by Car Driving in the Emergency Lane

A viral video has been going around online showing an elderly man getting hit by a car while he was in the emergency lane under a flyover on the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway, near the Sungai Besi Toll.

In the video shared by MYNEWSHUB, the man was just about to get on his motorcycle when a car suddenly hit him from behind, throwing him forward.

He stopped to take shelter from the rain

According to Harian Metro, the 76-year-old motorcyclist had stopped at an emergency lane in Kuala Lumpur to take shelter from the rain on March 23 when a car crashed into him.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the man suffered serious injuries from the crash.

“As a result of the accident, the motorcyclist suffered severe head injuries and was taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for further treatment,” he explained.

The driver has been arrested

Zamzuri added that the 40-year-old driver has been arrested to assist with the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
