Elderly pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Skudai

A 67-YEAR-OLD man has died from head injuries after being hit by a car while crossing the road along Jalan Hang Jebat 27 in Skudai on Friday morning.

Johor Baru North police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh confirmed the incident, which occurred at around 7am on 17 October.

“The man was crossing the road when he was struck by a car driven by a 78-year-old woman travelling from Taman Mutiara Rini towards Taman Ungku Tun Aminah,” he said.

The victim was taken to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for treatment but was pronounced dead on Saturday, 18 October.

ACP Balveer said the driver of the vehicle was unharmed and has lodged a police report.

He added that the case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
