With the floods taking place almost every year during the monsoon season, many are getting fed up with their homes getting submerged and damaged by flood waters.

Which is why this uncle from Chukai, Terengganu, has taken measures to make his house float on top of the flood waters instead.

BERNAMA took to their Twitter account to showcase the uncle’s house as his measures have worked as his home remained intact and undamaged, floating above the chaos that is the floods.

They wrote, “A Bakar Ahmad, 67, took a BERNAMA reporter to visit ‘Rumahku, Rakitku’ (My home, my raft) in Kampung Terbak Batu 16, Terengganu. He had gone viral on social media in a video that showed his home floating on water following the massive flood that had hit.”

In order to make his house float, he had used simple materials anyone could get their hands on.

“With only 69 plastic barrels and plywood boards, these were able to float a house measuring in at 30×40 square feet, 19 feet in height, and it took more than 3 months and can hold a weight of 15 metric tons,”

“He and his family did not move to the PPS temporary evacuation center because they live in a floating house that he built himself in Kampung Terbak Batu 16 Chukai, today (December 20),” they added.

Considering the monsoon season isn’t just going to go away, perhaps more people can utilise this method to prevent their homes from constantly getting flooded.

What a brilliant solution to the constant flooding! What do you think of this uncle’s innovative idea?
