
KOTA KINABALU: Two female victims, an 80-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl, were killed in a house fire at Kampung Pulau Penampang near One Borneo, here, early Tuesday morning.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department said it received the distress call at 5.22am and arrived at the scene along Lorong Gusin 3 at 5.39am.
The fire involved a 40x40 ft permanent-structure house, which was 90 pc destroyed.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 5.55am and fully extinguished it by 8.43am.
The body of the elderly woman was discovered at 7.13am, followed by the teenager at 7.33am. Both were handed over to the police.
A total of 31 personnel from the Kota Kinabalu, Lintas, and Penampang fire stations were deployed, along with seven vehicles including fire engines, an EMRS unit, and a water tanker.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
