TAWAU: Deputy Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) President Nurul Izzah Anwar urged Sabahans to vote for capable representatives in the coming state election that can work closely with the Federal government to ensure the mission to upgrade the state in development can become a reality.
She said the Madani government wished to see solid development in tandem with Sabah when it handed over two interim funds to the state.
There is much to be done such as fresh water supply and electricity under the nine issues demanded by Sabah.
“Therefore the two interim funds are meant for these but it is up to the state representatives to execute and implementation and give maximum desired benefits to Sabahan” she said.
She said young Sabahans are forced to look for work elsewhere and leave their family due to lack of job opportunities in the state.
“If both governments can work together and bring development and create more jobs in the state, these youngsters do not have to leave their family” she said.
During her visit there, she officiated four bureaus namely welfare, youth and sport, health and welfare initiated by the party’s district chief, Fung Thin Yein, and handed out supporting supplies such as rice and school supplies.
Fung said the bureaus seek help from the public in supplying used items such as school books or bags, wheelchairs or other supporting equipment for disabled.
“Send us these materials that they no longer use and we will do the necessary repairs and deliver to those that require them”, he said.
Meanwhile, when launching the party’s election preparations for Segama state seat in Lahad Datu, Nurul said the “Sabah Maju Bersama Madani” motto represents the party’s hope for advancing Sabah’s development.
“This means the motto ‘Sabah Maju Bersama Madani, Segama Maju Bersama Madani’ becomes our hope for Sabah’s development mission,” she said.
The event was attended by Lahad Datu PKR Branch Chief Romansa Lamin and Lahad Datu Umno division leaders headed by Division Chief Sharif Musa Sharif Mabul.
Nurul welcomed the strong cooperation with local Barisan Nasional leadership and said the machinery launch reflects the PKR’s readiness for the upcoming state election.
Meanwhile, Sabah PKR Deputy Chairman Datuk Peto Galim is confident that the party’s offerings, including fielding forward-thinking and charismatic candidates, would gain voter support in Segama.
“We offer a different leadership approach because we champion reform and consistently serve the people,” he added.
