Electric scooters boost safety at Tun Fuad Stephens Park

Kota Kinabalu: The recreational area at Tun Fuad Stephens Park in Bukit Padang has become safer, particularly for senior citizens, following the introduction of two electric scooters donated by Tan Sri TC Goh through the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation.

City police chief ACP Kasim Muda said the scooters will be used by the police and Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) to enhance patrol efficiency and support crime prevention as well as public assistance duties in the park.

He said the patrols aim to prevent crime and assist senior citizens who visit the park for exercise, enabling quicker response in the event of health issues.

Kasim said the scooters are strictly for operational use by the police and City Hall and are not permitted for use by the public.

He added that the area remains largely safe, with only one minor incident recorded in October 2025 and no other criminal cases reported, while patrols are conducted daily based on operational needs, especially during peak hours in the morning and evening.
