Debris from SpaceX’s Starship rocket fell through the sky after the spacecraft was destroyed following a booster catch back at the pad during its latest test flight on Thursday, 16 January.

Elon Musk’s company said the craft broke apart in what it described as a “rapid unscheduled disassembly.”

Its six engines appeared to shut down one by one during ascent, with contact lost 8.5 minutes into the journey.

People visiting the Turks and Caicos islands filmed the rocket ship's debris flying overhead, as the wreckage left behind a stream of smoke.
