YB Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health, unveiled a pivotal resource during the Training Workshop & TOT in Putrajaya: the Document Consensus Statement on Patient Blood Management (PBM). This collaborative effort between the Medical Development Division, MOH Malaysia, the National Blood Centre, and the Malaysian Blood Transfusion Society marks a significant milestone in healthcare. The comprehensive book comprises eight clinical submodules, addressing vital areas such as Obstetrics and Gynecology (O&G), Perioperative care, Cardiothoracic procedures, Critical Care, Neonatal & Pediatric interventions, Massive Bleeding scenarios, Medical considerations, and Nursing protocols. This initiative underscores Malaysia's commitment to advancing patient care standards and ensuring the optimal management of blood resources nationwide.

The main purpose of this book is to serve as a guide for implementing PBM in Malaysia. The PBM is an evidence-based medical concept that involves various medical disciplines, known as a multidisciplinary approach. The basic principles of PBM include:
- Using blood-based on transfusion indications.
- Reducing blood loss.
- Optimizing patient conditions before procedures or surgeries.
Applying PBM concepts in patient management can help reduce blood transfusion procedures and associated complications. Additionally, it can improve long-term blood usage savings. This action contributes to healthcare cost savings and ensures that blood supply is given to patients who truly need it.

The Ministry of Health Malaysia is committed to enhancing the quality of healthcare services nationwide. Patient safety is always a priority, and it is hoped that this book's introduction will positively impact overall healthcare service quality.
YBrs was also in attendance at this event. YBrs. Dr. Nor Hayati binti Ibrahim, Deputy Director General of the Medical Development Division, MOH, and YBrs. Dr. Mohammad Masrin bin Md Zahrin, Director of the National Blood Centre.
