In a recent statement, Datuk R. Ramanan, the Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, refuted claims of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim sidelining the Indian community, emphasizing the government's commitment to their welfare and empowerment.

Ramanan highlighted significant financial allocations directed towards initiatives benefiting the Indian community. Notably, allocations such as RM30 million for the SPUMI Financing Scheme (SPUMI Goes Big) and a special fund of RM50 million for the Prosperity, Empowerment & New Normal For Indian Women (PENN) program, are set to uplift over 10,000 Indian women entrepreneurs. He attributed the realization of these funds to Prime Minister Anwar's leadership and mandate.

Addressing accusations of marginalization, Ramanan urged detractors to visit Tanjung Rambutan to assess their own perspectives, dismissing such claims as baseless and intended to stoke discord within the Indian community. He emphasized the need to cease such divisive rhetoric, urging unity and collaboration for community progress.

Speaking at the 11th annual general meeting of Koperasi Pengusaha Restoran India Malaysia Berhad (Koprimas), Ramanan announced the approval of a RM100,000 grant for the cooperative. This grant, facilitated through the Cooperative Strengthening Programme under the Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia (CCM), aims to catalyze business growth and benefit Koprimas members.

Ramanan expressed confidence in Koprimas's potential for expansion, suggesting avenues such as establishing raw material distribution warehouses to serve restaurant entrepreneurs nationwide. He encouraged greater participation from the Indian cooperative movement in government assistance programs, noting a low utilization rate of the Revolving Capital Fund among Indian cooperatives.

Furthermore, Ramanan underscored the importance of leveraging government support to propel Indian-owned businesses forward. He called for increased awareness and utilization of available resources, stressing the role of cooperation and proactive engagement in fostering economic prosperity within the Indian community.

The commitment to fostering Indian entrepreneurship aligns with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's broader vision of inclusive economic development. By prioritizing initiatives that empower marginalized communities, the government aims to create a more equitable and vibrant economy for all Malaysians.
