KUALA LUMPUR: The highly anticipated launch of Malaysia's national digital identification system, MyDigital ID, has been rescheduled to May for public registration. This postponement comes as authorities prioritize seamless integration with various online platforms and mobile applications, ensuring a smooth user experience.
Mohd Mirza Mohamed Noor, the Acting CEO of My Digital ID Sdn Bhd, explained that while the system is fully prepared, additional time is necessary to synchronize its functionality with diverse online services. Initially slated for a March rollout, the delay aims to facilitate integration with a spectrum of websites and mobile apps.
Presently, MyDigital ID logins have been seamlessly integrated with key services such as MySejahtera, the MyGov Portal, and HRMIS, the government's human resources portal. Efforts are underway to integrate the system with Padu this month, followed by MyJPJ at a later stage.
In May, financial institutions, including banks, insurance firms, and e-wallet providers, will commence the integration of MyDigital ID. This integration marks a significant milestone, as it will serve as an electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) solution and facilitate transaction authorization.
Mohd Mirza emphasized that the development of MyDigital ID is geared towards enhancing accessibility and user experience. "MyDigital ID transcends being a mere platform; it represents a pivotal component of Malaysia's digital future. Our objective is to empower Malaysians with a secure and seamless digital engagement, safeguarding their privacy and security," he stated.
My Digital ID Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems (Mimos), disclosed ongoing efforts towards further integration with platforms of various government agencies. Established in January, the company is entrusted with managing and advancing the national digital identification system under the auspices of the National Security Council (MKN).
Mohd Mirza expressed his aspirations for MyDigital ID to be leveraged in cross-border transactions in the future. He envisions it not only as a national asset but also as a model for other nations embarking on similar digital identification initiatives.
As Malaysia's digital landscape continues to evolve, the journey of MyDigital ID stands as a testament to the nation's commitment to technological advancement and innovation. With its imminent rollout in May, MyDigital ID promises to redefine digital engagement, setting a benchmark for secure and efficient online interactions.
From its inception to its forthcoming deployment, MyDigital ID embodies Malaysia's ambition to emerge as a leader in the digital realm, ensuring that citizens are equipped with the tools to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
