Kota Kinabalu: Decisive leadership at both Federal and State levels is needed to end the prolonged impasse over Sabah’s 40 per cent net revenue entitlement, said Star President Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan (pic).
He said the constitutional formula under Article 112C and Part IV of the Tenth Schedule is clear and the entitlement is a constitutional right, not a discretionary allocation.
Jeffrey said the RM1.5 billion interim special grant for 2026 should not be treated as the final settlement or used to delay resolution of the 40pc entitlement.
He said the State Government should insist on a transparent review under Article 112D and refer the matter to an independent assessor under Article 112D(6) if both governments cannot reach agreement.
“The 40pc is a binding constitutional obligation. Immediate implementation would demonstrate that the Federal Government respects the Constitution, honours the foundations of Malaysia and treats Sabah and Sarawak as genuine partners in the Federation,” he said.
