KOTA KINABALU: A 27-year-old engineer who was remanded for allegedly sending death threats to lawyer Datuk Ram Singh (pic) was released on police bail on Friday morning.
The suspect, from Ipoh, Perak, must report to the investigating officer once a month, with his father acting as surety.
Police will send the suspect’s mobile phone for forensic analysis after it was found that all text messages had been deleted, and the next case mention has been fixed for Nov 10.
The man was earlier remanded for four days under Section 507C(1) of the Penal Code after surrendering himself at the police station on Tuesday.
Ram, who received multiple threatening WhatsApp messages linked to the Zara Qairina Mahathir inquest, said the suspect had apologised but he would still proceed with the police report.
