  • The UK is forecast to experience another heatwave within the next two weeks, with temperatures expected to rise towards the 30s from the second half of next week into mid-July.
  • This follows England recording its hottest June on record and the UK its second-hottest June.
  • Scientists warn that recent searing temperatures were made 100 times more likely by human-caused climate change.
  • The Met Office indicates that the chance of the UK exceeding 40C is now 20 times higher than in the 1960s, with a 50-50 probability of a 40C day within the next 12 years.
  • Increasingly extreme weather patterns are already leading to wildfires, disruptions to power and transport, and higher mortality rates.
