BEAUFORT: Residents wants the Public Works Department (PWD) and Pan Borneo developers to find a solution to make sure roads are safe for motorists.

“The junction to Kota Kinabalu and Beaufort is not maintained and unpaved, exposing motorists to danger,” said a road user, Awang Kahar Selamat, Tuesday.

Citing an accident at the Mawao junction to Jalan Tiong which happened at 2.30pm on Tuesday, he said the victim is now in critical condition.

“The main road is too narrow and filled with cones, resulting in the accident which involved a District Council employee.

“The Public Works Department and Pan Borneo developers should resolve this matter immediately to prevent accidents from recurring on the route,” he said.

He said the road is unpaved, steep and dangerous to motorists.

He further claimed that the numerous cones along the route hinder motorists’ vision.

“Those involved should work together to find a solution. If an accident occurs, the victims will almost certainly seek compensation. But what if it involves people’s lives?

How will they compensate? he asked.
