LAHAD DATU: The State Government is singing the same tune with the Federal Government in strengthening security and well-being of the people in the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom).
“This matter is highly emphasised by the State Government and among the main agenda discussed in Lahad Datu development local plan,” said District Officer, Firuz Idzualdeen @ Benetty Mohd Dzul when officiating Esscom Engagement sessions with the community in the Esszone and breaking of fast at Dewan Tun Mustapha, here, on Friday.
The engagement session aimed to carry out a study on Esszone Movement Control Order (MCO) and involved the target groups comprising leaders, communities, business and maritime communities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), academics and security forces in six districts involved in the MCO.
Lahad Datu was the last district after the engagement session was carried out in Semporna, Sandakan, Beluran, Kinabatangan and Kunak.

Read more Through the study, he said Esscom would be able to assess the level of acceptance among the local community and target groups in the trade, business, fisheries, tourism and education sectors towards the rebranded Esszone MCO.
He said the study would also analyse the effectiveness of the implementation of Esszone MCO, identify existing threats, and assess plans in terms of reducing the Esszone MCO areas and revoking the MCO.
“It will also examine alternative mechanisms to replace the MCO should it be revoked.”
Earlier, Esscom Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr Jamaluddin Mohd Ali, wanted the MCO briefing to be given to all political leaders, especially Members of Parliament and Assemblymen because the study needs to cover all for a greater impact.
