KUALA LUMPUR – The National Institute of Entrepreneurship (Insken) Guidance Programme generated RM8.7 million in sales revenue this year, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said.
In a statement, he said the Insken initiative proved to have a positive impact on the entrepreneurs under its guidance.
“I am very interested and excited in knowing more about the success of the programmes organised by Insken, especially the mentoring programme,” he said during the Insken guidance programme’s first graduation held at Bangi Resort Hotel last night.
A total of 180 individuals completed the guidance programme organised by Insken.
“106 entrepreneurs managed to show an increase in sales, and out of that number, 75 entrepreneurs managed to achieve the set key performance indicator, which is a minimum sales increase of 20%,” he said.
Benedick also proposed in his speech that Insken provide direct financing to the best performing participants under the programme.
“We want businesses to grow from micro to small enterprises and further increase their businesses to medium-sized enterprises. This will certainly generate more job opportunities for people.
“Like students who get excellent results in exams, government or corporate scholarship providers offer scholarships to outstanding students. As such, it is better that agencies under this ministry also offer funding directly to the best participants,” he said.
The guidance programme also created 100 new jobs and helped 37 businesses increase their businesses from micro to small enterprises.
Also present were Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Suriani Ahmad, ministry Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Haji Zamri Salleh, Insken board of trustees member Datuk Sham Shamrat Sen Gupta, and Insken chief executive officer Muhd Firdaus Azharuddin. – The Vibes, December 19, 2022
