The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched a drive for timely resolution of pending cases across various legal forums, the government said on Tuesday.
It said under the ‘Nidhi Aapke Nikat’ (NAN) programme, the number of pending consumer cases declined from 4,936 as on 1 April 2024 to 2,646 as on 31 March 2026.
According to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the overall pendency of litigation cases has reduced from 31,036 cases as on 1 April 2025 to 27,639 cases as on 1 April 2026, reflecting a reduction of 3,397 cases. This marks the lowest ever level of litigation pendency in EPFO, it said.
Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said special emphasis was also placed on reducing long pending cases.
“Consequently, the number of cases pending for more than 10 years declined from 8,539 to 4,665, registering a reduction of 3,874 cases, or nearly 45.4 percent,” he said.
The ministry has also decided to redress EPFO-related grievances through WhatsApp.
“Members can simply type ‘Hello’ to EPFO’s registered WhatsApp number which is verified by a green tick mark for safety and assurance, to initiate the conversation with EPFO.
They can also choose to receive messages from EPFO on their mobile number registered with EPFO. All communication will be through local/vernacular language enabling greater comfort for members to engage with EPFO in their language,” it said in a statement.
Mandaviya said the communication channel had been opened especially for beneficiaries eligible under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) who have pending gaps, such as incomplete Aadhaar authentication using UIDAI’s Face Authentication Technology (FAT) or non-enablement of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
The ministry also launched the revamped Shram Suvidha Portal 2.0 (SSP 2.0) and Samadhan 2.0 portals to strengthen labour law compliance and grievance redressal mechanisms while promoting ease of doing business.
“The upgraded portals have been developed in alignment with the four Labour Codes enacted during 2019–2020, namely the Code on Wages, 2019, the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 and the Code on Social Security, 2020,” it said.
The portals will enable digital processing, online registration, electronic filings and system-driven operations, reducing manual intervention and facilitating efficient service delivery.
