Travel + Leisure has unveiled its World’s Best Awards 2026 line-up and Malaysia’s EQ was named among the World’s 100 Best Hotels list as the nation’s sole representative. This is the hotel’s second year in a row featuring on the same roundup, making this achievement even sweeter.
EQ, situated along Jalan Sultan Ismail and within the vicinity of landmarks such as Petronas Twin Towers and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, placed fourth place for City Hotel in Asia and 27th place for Best Hotel in the World. Additionally, the hotel also improved on its reader score, going from 2025’s 98.73 to 99.12 this year.

For the uninitiated, EQ is a 440-room hotel located on the upper floors of Equatorial Plaza. Some of its most prominent features include a 25-metre infinity pool, Blue with its panoramic city views, Sabayon for contemporary European fare and Nipah for all-day Malaysian offerings.
On the announcement, General Manager Justin Lee said: “We are deeply honoured to receive this recognition from the readers of Travel + Leisure. To be the only hotel in Malaysia named among the World’s 100 Best Hotels is a proud moment, not only for everyone at EQ, but also for Malaysian hospitality.”

Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards is now in its 31st edition. For 2026, the World’s 100 Best Hotels list is topped by Osaka’s Patina, with Baros Maldives, Joali Maldives, Lion Sands Game Reserve in South Africa and Capella Ubud in Bali rounding up the top five.
