Every time my family, especially my wife, Zarina and our grandchildren visited Indonesia, they surely never miss to look for the famous Es Teler. It is a cold beverage containing fresh fruits - jackfruit, avocado and coconut, with special syrup ingredients that makes this drink really delicious fun to enjoy. I told my daughter, Farzana, “In 1981, a housewife who loves cooking named Ibu Murniati Widjaja, participated in an es teler making competition. With her mix of fresh jackfruit, coconut flesh, avocado pieces, topped with shaved ice & special secret syrup, she won the competition with the title Indonesian champion.” (https://esteler77.com)

As the World Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (WUSME) representative, I learned the winning moment gave Murniati and her family an idea to open a small food stall on the terrace of a shopping center in Central Jakarta, Duta Merlin. Together with her husband, Trisno Budianto & their daughter, Yenny Setia, they started a family owned business creating the recipes, that have become the menu today. Following which, their stall with a distinctive green & bright yellow paint became more popular, raised business opportunities. It became the First Indonesia fast-food franchising business system. According to the historical facts and pictorial review aptly displayed on the wall, Es Teler 77 continued to spread its wings, not just in Indonesia but also overseas, The first overseas outlet was opened in Singapore in 1998. In its 18th year, that was in 2000, Es Teller 77 opened its outlet at Swanston Street, Melbourne, Australia. Under the auspices of PT Top Food Indonesia, Es Teller 77 continues to innovate in presenting quality Indonesian flavors at home and abroad while establishing cooperative relationships with local suppliers & farmers to achieve sustainable international franchising business growth.
