SANDAKAN: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) uncovered various illegal activities and detained 25 undocumented migrants during a two-day integrated operation here recently.
Esscom Commander Datuk Victor Sanjos said the detainees comprised 21 Philippine and four Indonesian nationals who failed to produce valid identification documents.
He said the operation, involving 263 officers and personnel from various enforcement agencies, also led to the seizure of smuggled cigarettes, subsidised cooking oil, illegal electrical connection cables, turtle eggs, and unlicensed commercial goods.
The total value of enforcement actions, seizures, compounds, and estimated losses amounted to RM433,077, alongside the arrest of two men suspected of possessing syabu.
Victor emphasised that intelligence-based integrated enforcement operations will be continuously strengthened to combat cross-border crime and ensure the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone) remains safe and secure.
