During a 'buka puasa' engagement session yesterday, Transport Minister Anthony Loke revealed Malaysia will receive two new Electric Train Service (ETS) trains from China next month.

He added that a further eight units will be assembled locally at a factory in Batu Gajah, Perak. These new trains will begin operating in stages by the end of this year.

"For now, we are extending ETS services to Segamat because the station there is ready. However, since the Johor Bahru station is not yet complete, the service will only reach Segamat,” continued Loke.

According to the minister, existing trains will serve Segamat for now, while the two new trains arriving from China next month are being prepared for service.

With more trains in operation, the ETS service between Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur will increase in frequency. This will benefit passengers, especially those traveling through Seremban.

Loke also shared that the new Seremban Sentral Station, which will have modern facilities, is expected to be completed in two years. Currently, piling work is in progress.

"This station will be more than just a terminal. It will be a key attraction, integrating transportation with commercial activities," he added.
