Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the service will run on the KL Sentral–Kluang–KL Sentral route, offering passengers a faster and more comfortable way to travel between the Klang Valley and Johor.

“Tickets are available through the KTMB Mobile (KITS) app, kiosks, or the KTMB website,” he said in a statement.

The launch was marked by a historic moment when His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim personally test-drove the train from Kuala Lumpur to Kluang after officiating the event.

The King arrived at Kluang Station around 11.15am, drawing cheers from the crowd.

The ETS3 can reach speeds of up to 140 kilometres per hour. Two trains have already cleared technical testing, while the remaining eight are being assembled at the CRRC Rolling Stock Centre in Batu Gajah, Perak.

All 10 are expected to be in full service by early 2026, according to Loke.

The debut of the ETS3 was also celebrated with the opening of Laman Rel Mahkota, a 2.8-kilometre public park built beneath the Gemas–Johor Bahru Electrified Double Track project.
