The European Union has decided to restrict visa provisions for Somali nationals after an EU report concluded that Somalia is not cooperating sufficiently on deportations of its nationals.
The temporary restrictions mean that Somali nationals will no longer receive multiple entry visas and that the standard processing period for visa applications is extended from 15 to 45 days, a press release published on Thursday said.
The EU also decided to suspend the waiver of evidence requirements for visa applications and to reinstate a visa fee for diplomatic passport holders.
The temporary restrictions can be lifted once Somalia's cooperation is deemed sufficient, the press release said.
