Kota Kinabalu: The Eurasia circus that set up tent at Likas here since Feb 1 has provided free tickets to primary school students and teachers.

Its Operations Chief Edmond Choo said it was done in collaboration with the State Education and Welfare departments.

“It is Eurasia’s first time in Sabah. Circuses before us were under different companies,” he said, adding there are more than five circuses operating in Malaysia.

“We have acrobatic shows by 14 European artistes. About 700 people can fit in the tent at one time,” he said.

“There are tough times and times we enjoy. We all have our once a week off-days.

“So far, the public response is good and bad. We also ran into a ticket scam syndicate whereby we ended up having to pay the scammed customers. It is now a court case,” he said.

Edmond said it was the reason they pushed their show dates to March 15 instead of the initial finale on Feb 29.

“We are also running a promotion now where tickets prices are at a flat rate of RM30.

“I find the line of work quite interesting and might just continue,” he said.

He said the Kuala Lumpur-based company pays their artistes in USD plus insurance.
