- According to Spanish forecaster Aemet, tourist hotspots including Cordoba (43C), Sevilla (40C), Granada (39C), and Madrid (39C) will all see temperatures in the region of 40C.
- Western Europe has recorded its hottest summer on record, with a 24-hour average temperature of 21.62C for June and July, according to a report the EU’s Copernicus climate change service released on Monday.
- Meanwhile, the extreme heat has led to 25,000 related deaths this year, according to Bloomberg research.
- Wildfires have scorched over 550,000 hectares of land, while in France and Spain more than 300,000 people were forced to flee their homes.
