Europe rail travel boost as direct train service returns between two major cities

• Oslo and Berlin will be connected by a new direct rail service from 2028, marking the first such connection in over 20 years.
• The service is a collaboration between Norway’s Vy, Denmark’s DSB, and Germany’s Deutsche Bahn, allowing passengers to travel without a single train change.
• Deutsche Bahn's ICE L trains will operate the route, which includes stops in major cities such as Hamburg, Copenhagen, and Malmo.
• The full journey from Oslo to Berlin is estimated to take approximately 15 hours, while the Oslo to Copenhagen leg will take around seven hours.
• Round-trip rail journeys are scheduled to run twice daily from summer 2028, with specific departure times and ticket prices to be announced closer to the launch.
