The Eurovision Song Contest has heralded a “new chapter” as it announced an Asian version of the popular international singing competition.
The new competition will debut in 2026 and will be held in Bangkok, which has been chosen as the host city for its inaugural edition.
Ten countries have announced they will be participating so far, including Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines, with more to follow.
A promotional video for the upcoming competition features scenic clips of some of the competing nations, as a voice over states: “In Asia, the possibilities are even greater.”
The grand final is to be broadcast live on 14 November.
