
Eurozone annual consumer inflation declined faster than expected in June, coming in at 2.8% according to provisional figures released on Wednesday by the EU's Luxembourg-based statistical office, Eurostat.
Consumer inflation in May stood at 3.2%, and analysts had predicted 3.0% for June. The European Central Bank has set a medium-term target rate of 2.0%.
The effects of the Iran war has driven inflation up over recent months.
On a monthly basis, prices fell in June by 0.1% against expectations for a rise of 0.1%.
