EV Road Tax Coming In 2026, Cheaper Than Petrol Cars

The EV on road taxes exemption will end soon, will you still want one in 2026?

So the moment we all knew was coming has officially been announced. The Government has stated that electric vehicles (EVs) as we know them will not stay tax exempted for much longer as these vehicles, dubbed Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs), by the Government, will be taxed from 2026 onwards.

In order to ensure that the road tax structure (dubbed LKM by the Government) for EVs is updated in line with the development of vehicle technology and to give certainty to users, The fee rate is set based on the “power of the electric motor,” and the rate will increase in line with the increase in electric motor power.
