EV Connection (EVC), the company behind JomCharge EV charging network, is set to deploy a large scale JomChargeX charging hub at Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park in Perak.
The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Setia Awan Land Sdn Bhd for the project, which will feature up to 2,000kW of total DC ultra-fast charging capacity.
The planned deployment forms part of the new 447-acre, RM1.4 billion Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park development.
JomCharge X at Tanjong Malim to offer up to 2,000kW total DC charging capacity
According to EVC, the planned JomCharge X site will provide up to 2MW of combined DC ultra-fast charging capacity to support the development of high-powered EV charging infrastructure in Tanjong Malim.
So far there are no details on the number of DC Charge points and the maximum charging rate per nozzle.
Interestingly, Setia Awan has separately indicated that the wider development is expected to have EV charging infrastructure with a combined capacity of 5MW.
Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park is a RM1.4 billion development
The Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park is a 447-acre industrial development by Setia Awan Land with an estimated gross development value of RM1.4 billion.
The development is located near Proton City and within the wider Automotive High-Tech Valley area in Tanjong Malim. It is being developed to cater to manufacturers, automotive suppliers, technology companies and logistics operators.
Phase 1 covers approximately 104 acres, with industrial land parcels starting from five acres. According to reports, the first phase has achieved a 50% take-up rate, with investors including Ningbo Fresh Technology Co Ltd and Sheentech Automotive Systems Sdn Bhd.
The development also includes Ionera, a 27-acre commercial component comprising 168 units for food and beverage, retail and other services.
The overall Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park development is targeted for full completion by the third quarter of 2029.
