Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government has approved a series of events to celebrate the official birthday of Head of State Tun Musa Aman marking his first birthday celebration since assuming office on January 1.

Chairman of the Main Committee for the Official Birthday Celebration of the Head of State 2025 Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam said the first meeting of the Main Committee was held following approval by the State Cabinet regarding proposed events and expenditure.

“Although the official birthday falls on March 30 according to the Sabah Government Gazette, the celebrations will extend until June 21, featuring seven official events across Sabah,” he said.

The celebration programme includes Tahlil, Doa Selamat and Solat Hajat ceremony (organised by Jheains), Parade Ceremony (coordinated by DBKK), Parade Competition Prize Presentation (DBKK) , State Banquet (Protocol and Ceremonial Division), Sabah Ethnic Day (Sabah Cultural Board), Awards and Honours Investiture Ceremony (Istana Negeri) and Tea Party with special needs and orphans (Social Welfare Department).

Four major events will take place on June 21, namely the grand parade, parade competition prize presentation, State awards investiture ceremony and the official state banquet.

Dr Joachim said the organisational structure follows previous years’ format with a Main Committee chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister II/Minister of Local Government and Housing, a Technical Committee led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Housing and various sub-committees for specific events. “This celebration holds special significance as it marks the Head of State’s first birthday since his appointment as Sabah’s 11th Head of State.

“We are grateful for the cooperation from all State and Federal ministries and agencies in making these celebrations possible,” he said.
