Everton boss Sean Dyche insist they can handle failing to add a striker in January.
Dyche says they tried everything to make a signing last month.
He said, "I don't deserve an explanation from before my time here and I spent 48 hours, more or less, doing everything we could.
"You will have noticed how many strikers are out there. How is the market shaping up and how many are Premier League ready?
"That isn't an easy market for anyone. You have to be honest about the market and your part in it. We had the group in mind; there is quality in it.
"I came in here with open eyes, it will be a challenge. There's no point masking that. The striker department has fewer options than we would like.
"I'm trying to align a situation that is better going forward. That takes time. The main focus is to fast-track the side into winning games. That is really important, but we are exploring possibilities."
