Everton fans are calling on Graeme Sharp's return to the board.
The former Scotland stepped away from the club late last season as he was targeted by unhappy fans.
A group of fans have created a banner and hung it near Goodison Park in tribute to Sharp.
A member of the fans group told the Daily Mail: "It's time to show that the majority of Everton fans recognise Graeme Sharp for the man he is and player he was. He should always be welcome at our club and without fear of any reprisals.
"He took on a role with the club's board in good faith, he is not responsible for the decisions made at the top that have left the club in a relegation dogfight over the past two years.
"It's ridiculous that he has been targeted and sickening for his safety to have been threatened. He has been a great servant to our club, given us great memories, and we wanted to show our support because he deserves it.
"He's a gentleman and an Evertonian - it's important the current fan base remember that. He's always had the club's best interests in his heart and we want people to welcome him back. We are proud to have his name on the pub wall as we regard him as one of us: an Evertonian. It's a message to say, it's time to move on."
