Everton goalkeeper Jack Barrett has signed a new one-year contract until the end of June 2023.

The 20-year-old joined the Academy aged nine and has worked his way up through the age groups, making two Premier League 2 appearances for the Under-21s last season.

“I'm very proud," Barrett told evertonfc.com. "It's a big moment for me and my family. I've been at the Club for a long time now and it's a great feeling to be staying for another year.

"It means a lot, especially as an Evertonian myself.

"There's a good group of goalkeepers in the Under-21s but I just want to train hard and play as many games as possible.

"I'm also looking forward to working with [new Under-21s Head Coach] Paul Tait again. I did my scholarship under him and I really enjoyed working with him.

"There's always a good atmosphere amongst the lads working with him. He likes to have that positive environment - and he likes to play good football as well."
