Everton legend Trevor Steven is happy seeing Anthony Gordon still at Goodison Park.
Steven believes joining Chelsea would have been “the worst decision" that Gordon could have ever made.
He told the Liverpool Echo: “Anthony Gordon is a natural talent that is still working out to be the best he can be.
"We know Gordon can be that, it's just a case of getting there. He's got to learn stuff, cut some things out and add some things but his natural abilities are there and he's got a lot to work with, plus he's got a manager who thinks he's capable of going a long, long way.
“He's at a great place to be. I know there was all that hoo-ha about him potentially leaving the club towards the end of the transfer window but my goodness that would have been the worst decision he could ever have made in my opinion.
“There's got to be right times and right moments for anything and the last transfer window wasn't his. While there's work to be done both for himself and the club, he's got a really good supporting cast now and I'm feeling good about it and looking forward to seeing what we can do.
“It took that performance against Liverpool to be fair but I'm no longer looking forward to matches in trepidation and in the space of a couple of games, they have lifted that fear over whether we're going to turn up and what are we going to be today? Now I can see what we're going to be or at least try and be, which is very positive."
