Kevin Nicholson has left Everton five months into his appointment.

The Blues confirmed the appointment of the Coach Educator in April which was seen as an integral part of the club's strategic review following the departure of Marcel Brands the previous December.

The boyhood Evertonian was a junior player at Derby County and was the youngster ever Englishman to hold the UEFA Pro Licence after qualifying aged 29.

In a statement released to social media, Nicholson wrote: "Great to have had the opportunity to contribute to the Coach Education at Everton Football Club. Have learned so much working with people at Finch Farm, across the club and academy.

"Looking ahead, have been fortunate enough to have been offered a leading football role for an international organisation. This is an opportunity that I have decided to take.

"Look forward to working with the coaches, academy directors and technical directors across the world."
