‘Everybody wants me to’ run in 2028, Trump says when asked about a third term

• President Donald Trump indicated he may not pursue a third term in 2028, acknowledging that constitutional law limits presidents to two terms.
• Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews, Trump stated he would love to run, but noted that the law is very strong against it.
• “Everybody asks me that question,” the president stated. “And you know that the law is very strong on that. I’d love to run, but the law is very strong.” Trump continued: “I get asked by everyone. Even tonight, they’re screaming at the event, ‘2028!’ No, everybody wants me to do it, but the law is very strong.”
• When pressed directly on whether he was ruling out a 2028 presidential run, Trump declined to give a definitive answer and moved to the next question.
• Trump has repeatedly publicly floated the idea of a third term, including wearing a Trump 2028 hat at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner.
