Narnia The Megicians Nephew

Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is set to hit theatres worldwide in February 2027, offering us a window into Narnia’s origin story for the first time.

For many, Narnia was never just a place on a page. It made us believe in magic and had us checking the back of wardrobes at least once, hoping a door would open. Author C. S. Lewis built that world, and The Chronicles of Narnia films let us walk through it.

And somewhere among us sat a young Greta Gerwig, reading C.S. Lewis’ The Magician’s Nephew, completely unaware that one day she would be the one opening the door to Narnia’s very first chapter on the big screen.

“Because of C. S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia, I believed in magic and hidden worlds and adventure. I believed that anywhere could be enchanted and that anyone could be swept up into an epic. That wonder and awe were available to everyone, even ordinary people like me. It transformed me,” Gerwig told Tudum.

So, if you’re ready to leave our world behind and step into the magic Gerwig has brought to life, here’s everything you need to know about Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, including its plot, cast, release date and trailer.

According to the official logline, Gerwig will bring the origin story of Narnia to life in the first-ever adaptation of C. S. Lewis’ novel The Magician’s Nephew, first published in 1955. It’s a sweeping adventure that explores the wondrous creation of Narnia and reveals how the magical world came to be. It leads to the events of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which was published in 1950.

“I was a child when I first read The Magician’s Nephew, and I fell in love with the gorgeously improbable but completely brilliant concept of a cosmic lion singing the world of Narnia to life. I didn’t know that I would grow up to make films, but a universe built out of music is an idea that always lived in my heart. It is the honour of a lifetime to be asked to imagine it into being,” Gerwig told Tudum.
