SIPITANG: Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Transport, Datuk Ewon Benedick, officiated the groundbreaking of Sabah’s first scheduled waste management facility by E-Concern (Borneo) Sdn. Bhd. at Sabah Oil & Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP).

Ewon said the RM1 billion project will create around 270 jobs, reduce reliance on out-of-state facilities, lower logistics costs, ensure environmental compliance, and attract further investment to SOGIP, KKIP, and POIC.

“The facility supports Sabah First, aiming to develop high-income locals as business owners or skilled workers, while strengthening the industrial ecosystem,” he said.

He added that Sabah’s manufacturing sector recorded RM24.98 billion in approved investments over the past five years, highlighting growing investor confidence in the state’s economic potential.
