KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick has called on Sedco and its subsidiaries to provide more consistent and meaningful dividend returns to the State Government.

He said Sedco remains an important driver of entrepreneurship and investment in Sabah, particularly for small and medium enterprises.

Ewon, who also oversees the Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transportation portfolio, said dividends help fund key state initiatives in education, poverty reduction and community wellbeing.

He shared this during his first briefing and working visit to Wisma Sedco on Thursday, where he was also introduced to the group’s ongoing projects.

Ewon added that closer coordination between the state and federal governments is needed to ensure Sabah’s development priorities are fully addressed.
