Former Arsenal striker Perry Groves has likened Mikel Arteta to his old manager George Graham.
Groves was Graham's first signing as Gunners boss and he experienced first hand how the Scot moulded a young and hungry squad into winners.
Groves sees parallels in the way Arteta revived the club's fortunes with Arsenal top of the Premier League after nine games, ahead of today's trip to Leeds.
The two-time title winner, who joined from Colchester in September 1986, said: "I remember sitting down with the gaffer before I signed.
"He said: 'I'm going to change the dynamic of this football club. I am going to put the heart back into this football club.
"You are very raw. I can improve you technically and tactically. But one thing I can't do is put a heart into somebody. That resonates with me more now than it did then, because I just wanted to sign the contract.
"Has Arteta put the heart back into Arsenal? You only have to be at the Emirates to know that."
