Former Birmingham City sporting advisor Andres Manzano admits everyone at St Andrews were expecting Jude Bellingham to sign for Manchester United.
Bellingham famously visited United's Carrington training ground, where he met with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Sir Alex Ferguson and Eric Cantona. But he still chose Borussia Dortmund.
Ahead of the Real Madrid star's first El Clasico at Barcelona today, Manzano told Sport: "From the club, I will not deceive you, it looked good that he would go to Manchester because in the end it is a closer club and you could have a series of exchanges.
"But he and the family decided that the best option was Borussia Dortmund.
"And I thought he was right."
