Former Brighton midfielder Steve Sidwell admits manager Roberto de Zerbi needs to break his winning duck.
De Zerbi is without a win in five games since replacing Graham Potter, who is unbeaten in nine games in charge of the Stamford Bridge club.
And Sidwell told BBC Radio Sussex's Albion Unlimited podcast: "It's so difficult, you're walking into somewhere which is unprecedented really, in terms of walking into an environment, a culture, a football club that is working, that is not broke, and you don't need to fix it.
"That's normally the case, you would get a job because someone has been sacked for the wrong reasons. Very difficult for him.
"He's going to want to put his own stamp on it, when he comes into somewhere that's working. The players have to adapt. No-one likes change.
"I thought they came out the traps marvellously against Liverpool and were hard done by not coming away with the three points.
"But I think for De Zerbi himself, he wants to get that first victory under his belt."
