Shimla police on Friday registered a case against former Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) chairman Shrikant Baldi and former Himachal deputy advocate general Vinay Sharma, following a complaint by former state chief secretary Sanjay Gupta.
Gupta, who retired on May 31, has now been appointed chairman of the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
In his complaint, Gupta has alleged that Baldi made false, malicious, defamatory and reputation-harming imputations against him through press statements and media dissemination.
As per the complaint, Baldi allegedly said that Gupta passed “illegal orders”, “acted without jurisdiction” and issued orders “in favour of Chester Hill project proponents”.
Calling the allegations false, reckless and deliberately misleading, Gupta, in the complaint, claims that every order passed by him in an official capacity was issued strictly in exercise of lawful administrative authority.
In the complaint against Sharma, Gupta has alleged that Sharma deliberately levelled false, reckless and malicious allegations in his complaint on March 24, with full knowledge that the same were factually incorrect and legally untenable.
