Former Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli admits their thrashing at Napoli came as a shock.

Juve were thumped 5-1 by the Serie A leaders on Sunday.

Cobolli Gigli said, "We are in mourning. Like the fog in the north, the same goes for Juve. I didn't expect a similar result with Napoli, a 2-1 or a 3-1 would have been much better than the 5-1.

"Today is the day on which the new Board of Directors should take office, but it seems clear to me that Elkann has decided to continue with Allegri until the end of the season and nothing will change.

"We were satisfied with the latest results; we knew, however, that playing in Naples would be difficult, but nobody believed that it would end with a similar result. In the second half the players gave up, but there also a question of image comes into play... Some teams like Atalanta are going up, or even Roma with Dybala, a former Juventus champion.

"At the present time, considering the performance and performance of Napoli, we must take it for granted that the Azzurri can win the championship."
