Former Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli supports the decision to stick with coach Max Allegri.

Juve president Andrea Agnelli insisted Allegri's job was safe after last night's dismal Champions League defeat at Maccabi Haifa.

Cobolli Gigli told Bianconeranews: "Agnelli's intervention was timely, but belated. For months he was silent, he made (Pavel) Nedved and (Maurizio) Arrivabene talk, who are not great communicators.

"Inside the club there are those who do not appreciate Allegri and have weakened him with some statements. The team perceived this and fell apart. Andrea had to intervene immediately, strengthen Max and avoid someone's drama in the locker room.

“I didn't say it, but everyone knows it (is Nedved). It is known that someone on the board does not love Allegri.

“I had some doubts and I thought about the possibility that they could promote (Palo) Montero. But if the president has the confidence of his cousin (John) Elkann and decides to confirm the coach, that's fine for me."
