Victor Orta, Leeds United's former director of football, has spoken about how his career has unfolded.

The sporting director was highly rated and respected when he was working at the Elland Road club.

However, relegation at the end of last season saw him lose his job, with the club's new American owners pushing in a different direction.

Orta believes things would have unfolded differently if Everton had been handed a points deduction during the 2022-2023 campaign.

"One thing I don't like in England is the lack of consideration of the [financial] rules," he told The Mail.

"La Liga is trying to create sustainable clubs with break-even budgets.

"Perhaps my future would have been different for better or worse if Everton's points deduction was for last season."
