Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson is backing Sam Allardyce's appointment.

Allardyce has taken charge after the sacking of Javi Gracia and has four games to keep Leeds in the Premier League.

Robinson told BBC Sport: "Allardyce is the best man manager I have ever worked for, probably the best manager I have ever worked for. He gets a lot of disrespect because of the stigma around his style of play but let's not forget this man was once thought of as good enough to be an England manager.

"His track record speaks for itself in keeping teams in this league.

"I think with better players he would do better jobs. With this Leeds team, they need organisation, they need setting up right, they need pointing in the right direction. If Sam can bring everyone together, his leadership and man management quaities is what is needed at Leeds. In all honesty he should have had the job when Javi Gracia got the job."
